The Tree Doctor was set up to provide tree surgery and arboricultural services for Wetherby, Harrogate, Knaresborough, North Leeds and the surrounding area.

The Tree Doctor is owned by me, Jonathan Foster. I have 12 years experience as an arborist. I completed my apprenticeship with a firm of tree surgeons in Leeds, before going to Merrist Wood College in Surrey. Merrist Wood was the first college to provide arboricultural training in the country, over 30 years ago. It has a world wide reputation and attracts students from many different countries as well as from all over the UK.

I completed a National Certificate in Horticulture specialising in Arboriculture, NCH (Arb). The course covers: plant and soil science; plant nutrition; tree propagation and establishment; plant knowledge; tree health; tree maintenance; tree felling and dismantling and climbing and chain saw use.

After I completed the course I worked in Europe and Australia where I improved both my knowledge of tree surgery and arboriculture. I returned to England and worked in the York area and in the Channel Islands before setting up my own business.

I hold a Technicians' Certificate in Arboriculture, Tech. Cert. (Arbor. A) which is a well respected qualification in the arboricultural industry. It is awarded by the Arboricultural association, our main industry organisation in the UK.
